ASHISH C. BHATIA, MD, FAAD

Dr. Bhatia is a board certified dermatologist with
extensive experience in practice and leadership
development.  He is the co-founder of the Chief Academy, a leadership and management program developed for rising chief residents to prepare them for managing their peers, staff and attending physicians.

Dr. Bhatia is the Chairman of the Department of Dermatology at DuPage Medical Group, a 600+ physician directed medical group.  There, he founded the Department of Clinical Research, which now performs clinical trails in over 14 specialties.  He oversaw the expansion of the department from one to seven locations and over 20 providers, growing revenue and profits at an even faster rate.  He enjoys staying active in academic medicine and publishes extensively while serving as a Associate Professor of Clinical Dermatology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.

Dr. Bhatia earned his Bachelors of Arts degree at Illinois Wesleyan University where he studied both biology and business administration.  He earned his Medical Doctorate degree from Northeastern Ohio University’s College of Medicine where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.  He completed his residency in Dermatology at the Medical College of Virginia / Virginia Commonwealth University where he was selected to serve as chief resident.  He went on to complete a fellowship in Mohs & Reconstructive Surgery, Laser Surgery and Cosmetic Surgery at SkinCare Physicians in Chestnut Hill, MA, where he trained under the direction of the top dermatologic surgeons from Harvard Medical School and Boston University Medical School.  He also served as a clinical research fellow, participating in the clinical trials of many devices and drugs used in practice today.  Dr. Bhatia continues to be active in numerous medical societies and is considered a thought leader across several medical and surgical specialties.

As Chief Executive Officer, David launched
www.tracbiz.com as a niche boutique consulting
business in 2007 to help healthcare clients in four key areas:

1.       Working with a wide range of healthcare clients - from smaller physician practices to major integrated systems, supporting strategic planning needs and leading performance improvement initiatives, helping minimize costs, maximize efficiencies and improve practice business results

2.       Developing and facilitating leadership development classes and workshops, growing physicians/executives/ directors/managers/supervisors as ‘engaged leaders’ focusing on staff engagement and the patient experience.  Implementation and refreshing AIDET tools

3.       Leading turnaround management initiatives, including management coaching and ‘hands-on’ interim management.  Utilizing process mapping and lean principles to improve efficiencies and to lead change management initiatives

4.       Balance sheet management with asset management, sophisticated investment decision support tools and strategic utilization of tailored equity/debt/lease solutions to appropriately leverage and grow the business

 

He recently completed a three year interim leadership contract with DuPage Medical Group, (DMG) a 600 physician multi-specialty group in the Chicago suburbs, where as Executive Director, he had responsibility for radiology, laboratory, physical therapy, biomedical engineering and transcription with approximately 450 staff and where he more than doubled profitability.  That was followed by a one year engagement with DMG to develop and facilitate a Leadership Development program for more than 120 Directors, Managers and Supervisors from across all primary care, specialty care, ancillary services and administration departments.  Participants have been surveyed throughout and score the program very highly.

 

David created and continues to facilitate the Executive Leadership and Mentoring program for AHRA – the Association for Medical Imaging Management.  Launched in 2011, this 12 month program is designed for senior diagnostic imaging leaders from across the USA.  More than 150 leaders have participated in this program.

 

Prior to establishing Tracbiz, David launched and built a $100 million nationwide healthcare financing division for LaSalle Bank, Chicago. Previously he has more than 30 years’ experience in senior leadership positions with Coulter in hematology and both GE and Picker International in diagnostic imaging, plus in banking and financial services. His international experience includes working in Europe, the Middle East, Asia Pacific and Latin America.

 

David holds a bachelor's degree in bio-chemistry from the University of Leicester in the UK.   He is an Associate of the British Chartered Institute of Bankers, holds the Certified Diploma in Accounting and Finance and is also a graduate of the INSEAD Business School, Paris, France.

JEFFREY T.S. HSU, MD, FAAD

Dr. Jeffrey T.S. Hsu is a Board Certified
dermatologist with expertise in neurotoxins,
laser surgery, Mohs micrographic surgery, leg vein treatments, soft tissue augmentation, and scar revision.  Dr. Hsu specializes in minimally invasive techniques for facial and body rejuvenation.

Dr. Hsu graduated with distinction from Stanford University where he earned the coveted President’s Award for academic achievement.  He received his medical degree from University of California at Los Angeles, earning top honors along the way.  He then completed an internship in Internal Medicine and residency in Dermatology at the Mayo Clinic.  He pursued further training by completing a Laser and Cosmetic Surgery fellowship in Boston, Massachusetts under the direction of faculty from Harvard University and Yale University School of Medicine.

Dr. Hsu is also passionately involved in teaching and academic pursuits.  He has already co-authored three widely used textbooks; the latest publication is the Manual of Dermatologic Therapeutics 8th Edition, published in 2014.  He is the author of numerous scientific articles in leading dermatology journals and is regularly invited to speak at national and international conferences to teach other physicians the newest techniques and his latest scientific discoveries.  Dr. Hsu is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois-Chicago.

Our vision is for the Dermatology Business Accelerator (DBA) to be the premier resource to help dermatologists build their practice.  The DBA will help physicians and administrators to develop and grow their staff leadership competencies and business management skills.  The DBA will facilitate teamwork, add to the confidence of its members in addressing difficult staff or business problems and will build engaged practice teams, leading to an outstanding patient experience and improved business results for the practice.

The mission of the Dermatology Business Accelerator (DBA) is to create a connected network of member dermatology practices, with physicians and administrators working and growing together with the support of the DBA faculty of business leaders in order to:
